A young agrifood professional is set to play a key part in measuring a creamery's carbon footprint, after graduating with a Master of Science in BioInnovation.
25-year-old Lois Williams, technical compliance officer at South Caernarfon Creameries (SCC), completed the Master of Science qualification at Aberystwyth University.
She will now work closely with SCC's farmer members to measure the company's baseline carbon footprint, helping to ensure that it continues to achieve the Welsh Green Dragon Environmental Standard Level 4.
Ms Williams said: "I’ve been working at SCC since I graduated from my degree in Animal Science in 2020.
"I began in the laboratory as a quality assurance technician, and then got a promotion to be a technical compliance officer in 2022.
"My recent postgraduate qualification will now help me assist farmers in reducing carbon footprint and supporting SCC’s sustainability goals.
"I’m looking forward to putting all my learnings into practice."

SCC, which is Wales's largest dairy co-operative, works on projects to minimise environmental impact by measuring carbon footprint, reducing energy use, and collaborating with suppliers to enhance packaging recyclability.
It is made up of farms across North, Mid, and West Wales, some of which have been supplying SCC with cream for generations.
The company employs 180 staff and has 160 dairy farmer members, while customers include supermarket chains, independent shops, and food service companies.
