A rugby-themed mental health event has been held at Denbigh Rugby Club.

Organised by Working Denbighshire, the Tackling Mental Health event aimed to increase awareness, provide support, and promote mental wellbeing through activities focused around rugby.

Designed for seasoned players and newcomers, the sessions sought to highlight the benefits of team bonding.

The morning was all about family and kids, with an all-family activity and fun kids' session.

Further activities and discussions were held around mental wellbeing and coping strategies.

Several support services, including Youth Service and Adferiad, were on hand to inform residents of the free support available to them.

Liz Grieve, head of housing and communities service at Denbighshire County Council, said: "Mental health wellbeing is an important pillar to ensure healthy employment.

"This event created an important resource for residents to get the support they need, helping with employment services and signposting to support also."

Cerian Phoenix, wellbeing, resilience, and soft skills training lead at Working Denbighshire, said: "At Working Denbighshire, we believe that wellbeing is the foundation of a thriving community.

"This event wasn’t just an opportunity to learn and engage, it was a celebration of our collective commitment to fostering mental and physical health in the County.

"We will continue to offer other similar events to encourage more residents to improve and learn more about their own wellbeing."

Working Denbighshire, part-funded by the Welsh Government Communities for Work Plus Programme and the UK Government, supports disadvantaged individuals in the labour market to overcome barriers to employment.
