A DRINK-driver born in St Asaph and raised in Rhyl was caught in the early hours of the morning after police spotted him mounting a roundabout, a court heard.
Stephen Jones, of Lyme Grove in Buckley, appeared at Mold Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The 47-year-old admitted one offence of drink-driving, which took place at Dobshill on August 11 this year.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, told the court that shortly before 5am on the day in question, police travelling on the A550 at Penyffordd spotted the defendant driving a Peugeot motor vehicle.
They later stopped the defendant after observing him mounting a roundabout.
A positive roadside test was followed by an evidential reading of 67 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the limit being 35.
Mr Espie confirmed Jones had no previous convictions.
Elzbeth Kenny, defending, told the court: "Mr Jones agrees with the prosecution case in its entirety.
"This is a man who was born in St Asaph and raised in Rhyl.
"He left school at 16 and qualified as a joiner, then worked the majority of his adult life in the double glazing industry.
"He's a full time single parent and is in receipt PIP for his mental disorders of anxiety and depression.
"He understands he is going to be disqualified today."
The court handed down an 18 month driving ban and ordered Jones to pay a £130 fine, as well as £85 costs and a £52 victim surcharge.
