Acclaimed sculptor Osni Branco is heading to North Wales for a special 'Clay-Metal Fusion' workshop.

Flying from Sao Paulo, Brazil, he'll be at Ruthin Craft Center and Apple Tree Studios, Denbigh on September 14 and 15, bringing a unique opportunity to local artists.

North Wales Potters announced the news, revealing that participants will create and cast metal pieces onto fired ceramics.

The workshop will end with a raku firing session.

The group said: "Places on the workshop are all taken but North Wales Potters hope to continue this tradition of professional development with more similar opportunities in the near future."

Mr Branco's international reputation precedes him, having led similar workshops in Mashiko, Japan.

Mr Branco created numerous sculpture workshops for artist groups and underprivileged Brazilian descendants in Japan.

A political shift in Brazil has seen Mr Branco re-establish his large foundry in Sao Paulo, solidifying his international standing.

His infamous cast panels in aluminium, bronze and iron adorn entrance halls in Sao Paulo, where he studied foundry with the American Foundry Man Society and Associacao Brasileira de fundicao.

Mr Branco has also spent time studying sumie and roketsusome in Japan and art and design in Italy.

This visit will be Mr Branco's first time in the United Kingdom.
