The original Welsh Bible which Mary Jones walked 26 miles to purchase in 1800 is returning to Bala.
This Bible, which inspired the modern Bible Society movement, will be back at the Mary Jones Pilgrim Centre in Bala to mark its 10th anniversary since its opening.
Usually housed in the Bible Society’s archives at Cambridge University, it will be at the centre from September 21 to 22.
Nerys Siddall, centre manager and education officer, said: "We are honoured to celebrate this milestone with the return of the original Mary Jones Bible.
"This event not only marks ten years of our centre’s dedication to sharing Mary Jones’s inspiring story, but also provides a rare opportunity for visitors to connect with a piece of history that has touched the lives of millions."
Mary saved for six years to buy a copy of the Bible in her own language.
When she arrived in Bala, the Reverend Thomas Charles had run out, but he was able to arrange lodgings for her and sold her three copies for the price of one.
The Bible has been housed in various locations over the years, and its return to the Mary Jones Pilgrim Centre for this milestone anniversary weekend will be a poignant moment for those connected to her story.
The weekend will also feature craft activities for children, and the café will be open serving light lunches and refreshments.
The centre will also be showcasing an exhibition from nearby churches and chapels journeying through more of Bala’s Christian history.
The Mary Jones Pilgrim Centre has welcomed visitors from around the world since its opening in 2014, offering a place of reflection, education, and inspiration.
The event will take place from 10am to 4pm on both days and entry is free.
