More than 30 historic sites are set to open to the public for Denbigh's annual Open Doors event.

The event, which takes place from September 20 to September 22, will see historic sites across Denbigh and surrounding villages open their doors to the public.

The weekend of activities will begin with a talk from Bangor University lecturer Professor Dei Hughes on Friday, September 20, at 7pm.

Several tours will also take place throughout the weekend, including a Medieval Denbigh tour, a Townsend tour, a Highgate and Love Lane tour, and a geology tour of the town.

The weekend's activities will end with a closing lecture by Chris Evans, who will clarify some of the myths and truths surrounding listed buildings.

A Lego workshop will also be held for children, where they will be guided to create Denbigh's medieval walled town using Lego.

New buildings open this year include Denbigh Infirmary Chapel, Anvil Pottery at Llanrhaeadr's Smithy, and the building where the Travelsport business is located.

The Presbyterian church, St Thomas', will also open its doors.

This church, built in the Lombardic style during the late 19th century, combined several denominations to offer local residents a place of worship in English.

The church will be decorated for Thanksgiving and there will be a photo exhibition of church events during the last half century.

Mr Evans, chair of the voluntary-led Denbigh Open Door committee, said: "We are always excited at this time of the year to share the historical delights Denbigh and the surrounding areas have to offer.

"It is a great opportunity for local people to step inside some of these great buildings and locations that they usually see from the outside as they shop, eat, drink, and pass through the town on their way to work and during their everyday lives."

He added: "There is a warm welcome to everyone, far and wide.

"Booking is essential as numbers are limited at some locations.

"Make sure you grab your leaflet over the coming days, to see the sites that are open on the map and to confirm specific times some of the buildings are open.

"What3words locations are also included on the leaflet for locations outside the town of Denbigh.

"Let’s make this year another successful event for everyone."
