TWO containers of free bacon were emptied in just 45 minutes in Corwen after a meat wholesaler put out a local appeal.
R.G Bacon offered local residents the chance to collect the packaged and still perfectly safe-to-eat bacon free of charge after one of their fridges broke down, meaning the produce could not be stored.
The bacon was loaded into two large hoppers and word was let out locally that bags of free bacon were available on a first-com, first served basis.
After initially spreading the word at around 11.30am on Tuesday, September 17 and with local residents sharing the news on social media, by 12.15pm it had all been claimed.
It remains to be seen whether the phrase: 'We got rid of that quicker than a free bag of bacon in Corwen' will catch on.
