New technologies and new opportunities are set to be discussed at Denbighshire’s next tourism forum.

The event will take place on Wednesday, October 16, at the Oriel Hotel, St Asaph.

The forum, running from 10.30am to 1.30pm, aims to update delegates on the latest tourism developments. It also provides a platform for businesses to network and share experiences.

Among the guest speakers is Joe Bickerton, tourism manager at Wrexham Borough Council. He will discuss new travel opportunities for Denbighshire, stemming from the increased international profile of Wrexham FC.

Rhian Hughes, smart towns digital officer, will talk about how electronic data insights can improve town operations and future prosperity.

Ceri Lloyd, sustainable development officer for Clwydian Range and Dee Valley, will explain why all designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and Wales are becoming national landscapes.

Tourism is a key part of Denbighshire’s economy. In 2023, it had an economic impact of £736 million, a 17 per cent increase from the previous year. Visitor numbers also rose to 6.4 million in 2023.

The forum will also feature various information stands, including Business Wales, Federation of Small Businesses, Woodland Skills Centre, Denbighshire Heritage Service, Clwydian Range and Dee Valley National Landscape, Smart Towns, Working Denbighshire, Denbighshire Tourism, and Llangollen International Eisteddfod.

Councillor Alan James, lead member for local development and planning said: "Tourism is a vital industry, which is rooted firmly within Denbighshire.

"Our visitors come to experience our culture and heritage and explore our mountains and coast. Denbighshire has so much to offer, all within one County."
