SPOOKY season is upon us and that means people in the UK are planning a trip to a local farm to pick their own pumpkins.

Visiting a pumpkin patch has become a popular family outing, allowing people to enjoy the outdoors together.

It’s an opportunity to disconnect from screens and spend time in nature, often amidst beautiful autumn landscapes

The experience includes walking through the fields, selecting the perfect pumpkin, and sometimes enjoying additional activities which can make it a complete seasonal day out

Picking your own pumpkin allows for a more personalised experience than just buying one from a shop.

Families and individuals can choose from various shapes, sizes, and colours, making it easier to find a pumpkin that suits their preferences and intended use, whether for carving, cooking, or decoration.

And, as many pumpkin patches are part of local farms, visiting them supports local agriculture.

For those who value knowing where their produce comes from, picking directly from a farm can be a satisfying experience

With that in mind, here are a couple of great options in Conwy and Denbighshire where you can pick your own pumpkin:

Rhug Estate near Corwen

The estate has up to 3,000 pumpkins ready for picking and a range of activities planned.

Following the success of last year's Halloween celebrations, the estate aims to attract thousands of visitors from across North Wales and beyond.

The events, which will start on Saturday, October 26, will include Rhug's first-ever Pumpkin Festival and a series of special guests.

Manorafon Farm Park in Abergele

Manorafon hosts the Pumpkin Fest, where you can pick your own pumpkins and enjoy a festive atmosphere.

This event features seasonal treats, a Halloween trail, and fun activities for the whole family, including pumpkin carving.

Pick your own pumpkins and get some great selfies on the Pumpkin Patch. A standard pumpkin is including with each child ticket.

You’ll also find North Wales’ biggest selection of ‘alternative’ Pumpkins in the on-site market.

Both of these places are great choices for a day out with family or friends this October!
