A 'rare' 411-year-old Bible will be auctioned by its North Wales owner in Shropshire.

The Great She Bible of 1613, valued at up to £8,000, is one of the 'potential stars' at Halls Fine Art’s books, coins, and stamps auction in Shrewsbury on Wednesday, November 6.

The King James Bible, by royal printer Robert Barker, has been with the same family for generations.

The Bible is referred to as 'Great' due to its size and 'She' to distinguish it from some copies of the 1611 edition, where Ruth 3:15 reads differently.

This Bible also contains an error in Matthew 26:36, where ‘Judas’ is used instead of ‘Jesus’.

Chris Moore, Halls Fine Art’s books specialist, said: "Early Bibles are nearly always defective, and this one is missing the general title, which would have been dated 1613, as well as some leaves at the end."

Another notable item is a set of signed photographs of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, which are expected to attract bidders from America.

These were presented to British violinist Margaret Harrison and are estimated to fetch between £800 and £1,200.

The frames of both photographs have a brass plaque which states: "This wood was part of the White House roof erected about 1817 and removed in 1927."

Ms Harrison was a 'leading figure' in the British classical music scene during the first half of the 20th century alongside her sisters.

The auction will feature Jimi Hendrix and his band’s signatures, expected to fetch up to £300, and King Louis XIII of France’s autograph on a letter dated August 1628, valued at up to £300.

The auction will also include a full set of the Collins New Naturalist series, early Wisden Cricketers’ Almanacks, and several lots of Shropshire books.
