DENBIGHSHIRE County Council has said that there are “still some issues” with the county’s new bin collection system, after the rollout was called “appalling”.
The Trolibocs waste collection system was introduced by Denbighshire council (DCC) in June, requiring residents to sort recyclable materials into separate new containers.
However, its implementation was heavily criticised, with several residents not having their collections for up to months, with many struggling to keep order of the waste they had accumulated.
In September, it was revealed that the rollout of a new recycling scheme had led to the local authority running up a £640,000 overspend.
Last week, Gareth Davies, MS for the Vale of Clwyd, called the rollout “appalling”, saying he was still receiving complaints from concerned residents “across the constituency”.
He said: “Despite it being nearly five months since the implementation of the new waste system in Denbighshire, I'm still receiving many complaints from residents across the constituency.
“Nappy bins still not being collected and DCC telling residents they won't be collected until December, green bins not being collected since the new system (despite residents paying a premium for this service), some residents being told they're recycling too much, concerns around the managing of recycling on collection and many more.”

A Denbighshire County Council spokesperson said: “We continue to closely monitor the rollout of the new waste and recycling collection service for residential properties in Denbighshire.
“The measures we have implemented since the rollout began have seen the difficulties ease as the new service becomes more embedded across the county.
“The Cabinet has recently approved a proposal to invest additional resources into the service, which will provide the permanent solution to the issues we’ve seen with recycling collections since the new system was introduced in June.
“Although the vast majority of residents across the county are now receiving the expected level of service, with a weekly recycling collection, we do accept that we still have some issues with specific properties that are not getting a consistent service.
“We do appreciate how frustrating that is for those residents, and we are working hard to resolve those remaining issues.
“We are confident that the introduction of re-designed recycling rounds will enable us to address any remaining issues and to provide a consistent and effective service to all 46,000 households in the county.
“Every Denbighshire resident received an in-depth booklet before the rollout took place, explaining the changes in the service.
“Information has been regularly released as and when key information about the service needed to be distributed to residents.”
