A charity event celebrating Guy Fawkes night has raised more than £1,200.

The event, held by the Llanferres Playing Field Recreation Association (LPFRA), took place on Sunday, November 3, in Llanferres village.

The LPFRA charity, founded in 1996 by local residents, has been a volunteer-driven initiative for nearly three decades.

Families from across the region frequently visit the park.

The recent event featured a variety of activities for children, including face stencils, glitter tattoos, biscuit icing, lantern making, face mask decoration, and a Guy Fawkes scarecrow competition.

The evening concluded with a vibrant fireworks display.

The event attracted a large crowd, with families travelling from local villages as well as Mold, Buckley, Wrexham, Penyffordd, and Ruthin.

The success of the event was attributed to a dedicated team of volunteers who organised and executed the event.

The funds raised at the event will cover half of the annual maintenance costs for Llanferres village park.

The LPFRA expressed gratitude to all attendees and supporters, acknowledging that their support is crucial for the park's continued operation.

A spokesperson said: "A truly wonderful community event - enjoyed by all.

"The event was possible only due to a team of committed volunteers working together to bring about a well-organised event.

"Everyone worked very hard with the planning, arranging, and participating to bring about this sought-after local event."

They added: "We hope to see you again next year for another joyous, happy Guy Fawkes night."
