A concert is set to take place in Denbigh to help raise awareness of a rural cancer project.

The event, organised by Falmai Ellis from national charity The Farming Community Network (FCN Cymru), will take place on November 16 at Denbigh Town Hall.

The concert aims to highlight cancer risks, signs, and symptoms in rural areas.

FCN Cymru and Macmillan Cancer Support have teamed up to address health inequalities in rural areas, where people are five per cent less likely to survive cancer compared to urban areas.

On the evening, the audience will be entertained by National Eisteddfod Blue Riband winner Elis Jones, Branwen Jones, winner of the National Urdd Eisteddfod, comedy act Sian and Sian, Côr Cantilena, and Bro Aled Male Voice Choir.

Ms Ellis, FCN/Macmillan programme officer, said: "Our 'Nip It In The Bud' campaign is to encourage farmers and people living in rural communities to get themselves checked.

"Farmers often won’t visit their family doctor until the last minute and we need to change this mindset."

Linda Jones, national manager Wales for The Farming Community Network, said: "Working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support will help to strengthen support for people affected by cancer.

"We will be building referral bridges to and from Macmillan’s cancer services and encouraging early intervention."

The concert will begin at 7pm and tickets, priced at £15, can be purchased from Siop Clwyd on 01745 813431 and Siop Elfair on 01824 702575.
