Plaid Cymru Gwynedd's group has elected its first female leader.
Councillor Nia Jeffreys was chosen to lead the group of councillors at a meeting in Caernarfon on November 13.
Ms Jeffreys, who has represented the Dwyrain Porthmadog ward since 2017, had been serving as deputy leader since 2022.
She took on the role of interim leader at Cyngor Gwynedd when the former leader, Councillor Dyfrig Siencyn, stepped down in mid-October.
Ms Jeffreys said: "It is a great privilege to lead the group of councillors in Gwynedd.
"I am extremely grateful to the group for the trust they have shown in me.
"I'm looking forward to working with them and getting on with the job in hand to benefit the people of Gwynedd."
She also took the opportunity to acknowledge the work of her predecessor.
She said: "I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the former leader, Councillor Dyfrig Siencyn for his work and service to local government in recent years.
"I'm looking forward to tackling the new role with vigour and enthusiasm."
Cyngor Gwynedd is set to meet on December 5, where all council members will elect a new leader for Cyngor Gwynedd.
Until then, the cabinet led by Ms Jeffreys will continue in its role.
Plaid Cymru Gwynedd is the largest group on the council, with 46 members.
In the 2022 election, the highest ever percentage of Plaid Cymru councillors were elected to Gwynedd since its formation in 1996, namely 64 per cent of the councillors.
