The founders of a yogurt business that started in a calf at their farmhouse in Denbighshire have been honoured with a lifetime achievement award.
Gareth and Falmai Roberts, the brains behind Llaeth y Llan, were recognised by the Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) for their "hugely successful business."
The award was given at a special dinner at The Kinmel, Abergele, on November 8.
The Roberts launched their business from their Denbighshire farmhouse in 1985, with initial product trials conducted in their airing cupboard.
Over the years, the business has grown considerably, with a modern dairy set up in 1995, and a new production facility opened in 2017 on the couple's farm.
The business now produces 14 different flavours and is sold across Wales and England.
As well as the FUW lifetime achievement award, the business also won the Wales Food Producer of the Year award at the Wales Food and Drink Awards in 2022.
The FUW Lifetime Achievement Award was presented by FUW president, Ian Rickman, with Welsh operatic baritone, John Ieuan Jones.
Mr Rickman said: "The FUW was absolutely unanimous that Gareth and Falmai’s hugely successful business should be acknowledged, and we were delighted to host this dinner to honour their achievements and present them with this award.
"From producing their first yoghourt pot, to their current success as one of Wales’ most recognisable food producers, Llaeth Y Llan is an outstanding example of Welsh enterprise, with local farms and food production at the heart of their success.
"I congratulate them on this well-deserved achievement, and have no doubt that their business will continue to grow from strength to strength."
The event also included an auction, with the profits from the dinner and auction being presented to the Apel Goffa Dai Jones Memorial Fund.
The fund is administered by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society.
