A BOY from Ruthin is to compete at the British Athletics Championships next month, having won gold medals at two competitions in June.
Lucca Tardivel, 14, represented North Wales on June 8 at the inter-regional event in Deeside, where he was successful in gaining three golds in long jump, javelin and 4x100m, and a silver medal in 100m.
He then followed this up at the Welsh Championships in Cardiff on June 15 and 16, when he again won a hat-trick of gold medals; this time, in long jump, 200m and javelin.

In addition, Lucca won a silver medal at this event in shot put, and bronze in 100m.
A pupil at Ysgol Brynhyfryd and a member of Deesie Amateur Athletic Club, Lucca was cheered on at both events by his family, who will also be watching him in action in July.
His mum, Alison, said: “Both are massive achievements; he’s been doing athletics since 2021, but did these events with very little training.
“He’d only about two or three weeks, because he had to stop after getting concussed while playing rugby in May.
“He was out for about three weeks, which makes it all the more impressive. We’re all super proud of him.”
