ST ASAPH Cricket Club will be formally returning to practice in a socially distanced manner next weekend.
The North Wales Cricket League Premier Division side confirmed that their outdoor facilities will once again be available to use for players and coaching staff from Saturday, July 4.
The sessions will be for club members only and will be “strictly controlled” and on a limited basis.
The club will be following the strict guidelines announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board, but despite this positive step there is still increasing uncertainty as to whether any competitive fixtures will take place this summer.
Junior net sessions will be restricted to Saturday mornings from 9am-1pm. Senior squad members will be permitted to use the facilities on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
This situation could be reviewed should there be a greater demand outside of these initial timeframes.
The club will only be accepting participants on a pre-booking basis in accordance with ECB regulations.
The governing body confirmed that clubs can reopen their outfields for outdoor sports activity that complies with government guidance.
They have also been given the approval to use cricket nets on an ‘every other net’ basis in accordance with social distancing guidelines. The ECB is requesting that a representative from the club to be on-site at all times while their facilities are open for use.
When outdoor nets and outfields are closed and there is general open access, closed signage should be clear and visible to inform the public that this area is not available for use.
Club buildings, which include changing rooms and any bar area, together with other communal areas are to remain closed to reduce the risk of interaction and potential spread of coronavirus.
Anyone wishing to book their place for a session can do so by contacting Gareth Ryan on 07896 683082.
