WHAT a gr-eight Friday night it turned out to be for Denbigh Town.
Following on from their 5-1 defeat to Llay Welfare, Dewi Llion's charges bounced back in brilliant fashion with an 8-1 Ardal North West League triumph at home to Brymbo.
Jacob Barratt's early effort struck the crossbar as Denbigh started brightly, while Jake Walker and Mark Roberts also had chances in the opening stages.
Town should have gone in front on 19 minutes when Roberts was in the clear, but his usual clinical finishing deserted him and he pulled his shot wide.
However, Denbigh did go 1-0 up a minute later with Roberts calmly lobbing the keeper from 15 yards out.
Town doubled their advantage on 24 minutes with Walker heading the ball into the roof of the net.
Things got even better for the hosts on 34 minutes.
Mike Sharples set up Jacob Barratt, who rounded the keeper before calmly slotting home.
The goal-den spell continued two minutes later with Sam Tate's delightful through ball setting up the kind of chance that Walker simply does not miss.
Denbigh added a fifth goal for good measure just before the break as Barratt netted his second goal of the evening.
As Denbigh prepared for half-time, Brymbo caught them napping, allowing Nicky Chesters to sneak in and slot home to make it 5-1.
While Denbigh struggled to get going in the second half, frustration got to the Brymbo players and on 53 minutes, Josh Phillips was sent off for an off-the-ball incident.
It took Denbigh until the 71st minute to open their second half account, with fine work by Sam Jones creating the chance for Jacob Barratt to complete his hat-trick.
Brymbo's evening went from bad to worse when they were reduced to nine men on 73 minutes with Jordan Tipping being sent off.
Town finished the match strongly and they scored a magnificent seventh on 87 minutes.
Barratt turned provider to find Sam Tate and his shot flew into the net off the post.
An eighth goal arrived in the final minute.
Tate found himself free on the edge of the box and unleashed an unstoppable low drive into the corner of the net.
