RUTHIN moved to within six points of top spot in Division One (North) after they claimed a hard-fought win over local rivals Bala.
Targeting a ninth league win of the campaign, the Blues secured a narrow 11-6 success during their trip to Maes Gwyniad.
Ruthin's solitary try came from Robat Lewis, while two penalties from Deian Williams helped to nudge the second-placed side closer to Nant Conwy, who were in national cup action.
Conditions forced the game into a physical battle up front, with Ruthin taking advantage of the elements in the second half to pin Bala into their own 22 for long periods of play.
With a quarter-of-an-hour left on the clock, the pressure told and Rob Daf Lewis saw a gap thorough a ruck and crashed over for a cheeky try to make it 8-6 to the visitors.
Ruthin then sealed victory with a penalty in front of the posts from Williams.
