CHARLIE Caton has signed a deal with Chester FC for the next two seasons.
Caton, a former student at Ruthin's Ysgol Brynhyfryd, spent a big portion of last season on loan at the Deva Stadium and he has opted to return to the National League North club after being released by Shrewsbury Town.
Upon his release by Shrewsbury, the Blues - who reached last season's play-offs - have made the move to sign him permanently.
During his loan spell last season, the 20-year-old claimed seven goals and seven assists in 26 appearances.
Chester boss Calum McIntyre told the club's website: “This is a terrific signing for the football club.
“Charlie made an enormous contribution during his loan spell last season in terms of goals and assists and I am ecstatic that we have secured him on a two-year deal.
“There aren’t many players at this level that can match Charlie’s work ethic and quality and I know he will be a superb signing for us this season.
“Charlie is a player, and person, that I think really highly of and I am really pleased to be working with him again.
“Signing players of this quality is only enabled by the Boost the Budget campaign and I am delighted that our supporters have facilitated the signing of Charlie.”
Under contract at the Deva Stadium next season are Harrison Burke, Kieran Coates, Zack Clarke, Reece Daly, Lewis Earl, Liam Edwards, George Glendon, Kole Hall, Ollie Heywood, Iwan Murray, Kevin Roberts, Wyll Stanway, Adam Thomas, Declan Weeks and Matty Williams.
Meanwhile, Alex Kenyon and last season's top scorer Kurt Willoughby have both been offered terms for the 2023-24 campaign.
