A MAGNIFICENT seven has opened the new Tillwise Summer League season in style for defending champions Llanrhaeadr.
On a chilly and blustery Monday night, Llanrhaeadr made sure they were the first leaders of 2024 with their 7-0 success over Rhewl.
Llyr Morris and Rhys Hughes bagged braces, with Sam Jones, Tom Roberts and Cai Frith also on target.
It’s also been a terrific start to the season for Llandyrnog with their 3-0 win away at Caerwys. The star of the show was Craig Jones with a hat-trick.
There was a thriller as Llangynhafal twice came from behind to defeat Ysceifiog 4-3.
The visitors were 1-0 and 3-2 ahead, but goals from Max Cooke (2), Ben Smith and Dyfan Humphries won it for Llangynhafal.
Jac Hickie – with two long-range free kicks – and Mike Guest were on target for Ysceifiog.
It was honours even as Clawddnewydd and Llanfair played out a 3-3 draw.
Tirion Griffiths, Rhidian Edwards and Cai Moore were on the mark for Clawdd, with Jason Alexander (2) and Osian Wort scoring for Llanfair.
There was also a point apiece for Nantglyn and Cefn following their 0-0 draw.
The match between Trefnant and Henllan was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The season opened last Friday as Llanrhaeadr lost out 5-3 to a rest of the league team.
