Ruthin Rugby Club achieved a hard-fought victory over Dinbych over the weekend, exploiting every scoring opportunity to clinch the district derby.

Though the final score does not reflect Dinbych’s tenacious efforts throughout the match, it was Ruthin’s ability to capitalise on their chances and core defensive strength that ensured their triumph.

Ruthin attracted an early advantage and scored in the 8th minute when scrum-half Chris Morgan scored a try from a short-range quick tap penalty.

Centre Nathan Jones secured the conversion points, pushing Ruthin ahead.

In the face of an early setback, Dinbych’s hold on the game tightened with a series of deep attacks in Ruthin’s area.

The team's right-wing, Kirean Bonar, came close to equalising the score but fell slightly short of the Ruthin line.

The first half saw Dinbych controlling the game from a territorial standpoint, however, Ruthin’s faster breakdown and support game kept them looking potent.

Ruthin’s tactics paid off scoring in the last play of the first half when flanker Owain Jones completed a successful attack, initiated from just inside the Dinbych half.

Nathan Jones again scored the conversion points.

Entering the second half leading by 14 points, Ruthin further extended their advantage with their third try in the opening minute.

A long-range attack from the halfway line concluded with left wing Gwion Richards successfully crossing into the corner and touching down under the post.

Nathan Jones' conversion, added to Ruthin's increasing lead.

In the face of escalating pressure, Dinbych reacted well, almost scoring after asserting considerable close-range pressure.

However, the official ruled against a touch down, despite the forwards' advancement over Ruthin’s line.

Possession gradually slipped back into Ruthin’s hands, coupled with numerous penalty concessions by Dinbych at the scrums, disrupting their offensive momentum.

Ultimately, Ruthin sealed the match in the final minutes when Gwion Richards sprinted down the centre deep into the Dinbych area, scoring his second try.

Nathan Jones converted this opportunity, marking his fourth conversion.

Ruthin won the game 28 points to 0.
