Ras Peris Pedol, the final race of the British Athletics Championship, took place on September 21 against the backdrop of six stunning mountains.

The popular 17.5mile race, with an elevation of 8530ft, also concluded the Welsh Fell Running and North Wales Championship series.

Enthusiasts gathered from all over Britain at Victoria Hotel gardens, situated at the heart of the mountains: Elidir Fawr, Y Garn, Glyder Fawr, Y Lliwedd, Yr Wyddfa and Moel Cynghorion.

According to participants, the weather behaved, marking the day with a cooling easterly wind and clouds above 900m.

Joanne Henderson of the Denbigh Harriers was home first for them in 4.29.41, securing her position as the 3rd F40 British champion and 2nd F40 Ras Peris Pedol.

New member Gwion Schiavone followed, descending Moel Cynghorion to finish in 4.34.12.

Tony Wood was third, clocking in at 4.37.42.

Others from Denbigh Harriers included Mel Morris and Peter Lester-Owen who completed the race in 6.26.34 and 6.28.28 respectively.

Mr Lester-Owen said that he loved the event and is looking forward to returning in the future.

Race presentations weren't short of excitement.

Ms Henderson scooped the 2024 Welsh Fell Running and North Wales Fell Running champion title, along with 1st F40 in both series.

Mr Wood secured 3rd Overall North Wales Fell Running Champion and 2nd Open male in the North Wales series.

Emma Collins, who was absent, did well, achieving 3rd Overall North Wales Fell Running Champion and 1st F60 in the North Wales series.

Finally, Ms Morris was named 1st F50 North Wales Fell Running Champion and 2nd F50 Welsh Athletics Mountain Champion, and Mr Lester-Owen secured 3rd M60 North Wales Fell Running Champion & 1st M60 Welsh Athletics Mountain Champion.
