Denbigh Town's unbeaten run ended dramatically on Saturday with a stoppage time goal from Guilsfield, sealing a 4-3 defeat.
The match began poorly for Denbigh, who fell behind early.
Within four minutes, a long throw from Guilsfield was not dealt with properly by their goalkeeper Aaron Jones, allowing James Smallwood to score from close range.
In the 27th minute, Guilsfield extended their lead, when a looping ball into the box was finished by Jamie Hyne.
Owen Davies scored to reduce the deficit, followed by a beautiful assist to Sam Duffy just before half-time.
Denbigh’s momentum continued into the second half.
Less than two minutes after the restart, Davies intercepted a ball on the edge of the box and fired a powerful shot from outside, putting Denbigh ahead 3-2.
However, their lead was short-lived.
Guilsfield equalised again in the 65th minute when Jamie Hyne converted a cross, making the score 3-3.
As the match approached its conclusion, both teams pushed for a winning goal.
Denbigh had opportunities, but they were unable to convert.
Callum Graybrook squandered a chance for Guilsfield with a shot that went wide as the match became tense.
In stoppage time, a crucial moment arrived.
A free kick from Guilsfield was played short, cleared momentarily but then thrown back into the box.
Sean Jones found the ball and scored in the 96th minute, clinching the victory for the home side.
Denbigh manager Dewi Llion made one change to the side that won against Llandudno the previous week, bringing in Billy Holmes for Max Cooke.
Iwan Roberts also returned to the squad.
Despite the loss, Denbigh showed resilience, especially after falling behind early.
Owen Davies, who was pivotal in Denbigh’s comeback, had a standout performance.
Denbigh Town will look to bounce back as they return to Central Park to face Airbus UK Broughton on Friday night.
